Ted works in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University as an Professor and Undergraduate Course Coordinator of the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) course offered by the Monash Department of Occupational Therapy at its Peninsula Campus.

Ted has worked as an occupational therapist for over 30 years. He completed a Bachelor of Science in occupational therapy with honours in 1986 from Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario Canada. He then went on to complete a Master of Public Administration with a specialisation in health care policy in 1989 and a Master of Science in rehabilitation in 1991 from Queen's University, Canada. In 2003, he completed a PhD in occupational therapy at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.

In relation to clinical experience, Ted worked for three years at the Kingston Psychiatric Hospital (1986-1989), one year at Kingstong General Hospital (1990) and eleven years at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (1991-2002). Ted then migrated to Australia in 2002 and worked at La Trobe University in a post-doctoral research position for two years (2003-2004). Ted also worked part time at the Royal Children's Hospital in early intervention from 2002-2005 in Australia.

In 2005, Ted took up an academic position in the newly established Department of Occupational Therapy, Monash University - Peninsula Campus. He was one of four foundation members of staff hired to set up the undergraduate course. Currently Ted is an Associate Professor and Undergraduate Course Coordinator for the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) course offered at Monash University.

In 2017, Ted was made an inaugural Fellow of the Occupational Therapy Australia Research Academy (FOTARA). In 2019, Ted was awarded the Roster of Fellows for the American Occupational Therapy Association (FAOTA) designation based on his “excellence in education, research, and service" to the occupational therapy discipline in the United States and internationally. In 2017, Ted and three other colleagues published the first edited book written by Australian occupational therapy authors for entry to practice students titled "Occupational therapy in Australia: Practice and process issues".

Ted currently coordinates, tutors and lectures into the following undergraduate units offered in the Monash Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) course during Semester One and Two each academic year:

- aspects of school-based occupational therapy practice

- child-centred approaches to paediatric assessment

- aspects of evidence-based practice

- evidence-based education with health professional students

- applications of the Rasch Measurement Model to scale development and validation

- bibliomentric analysis of journal publications
